Distractions
So you’ve got your day planned, and it
involves writing. However, life doesn’t always seem to let us keep to the
schedule we have in mind. We sit down to write, and something comes up. Whether
it’s someone popping to remind us there’s still grocery shopping to be done, or
something demanding our attention. So many distractions, and they seem to pop
up when we sit down to write. One way to keep others from pestering you is to
hang a sign on the door of the writing room, telling everyone not to disturb
you while you’re writing. However, that won’t guarantee one hundred percent
no-interruptions. What are some of the ways you combat the distractions?

Well, I'm a proactive kind of person. I tend to plot out my day before I even get out of bed, and I make sure I get off and running to get my list "done". That way, when I sit down to write, I get something done. Plus, if something does distract me, it's not hard for me to pick right back up where I left off when I return.
ReplyDeleteIf I can, I'll tell the other person I need to get some work done before her errands. If it's something urgent, I'll get it done and come back to work without any pressure. Usually, the distractions are my own: TV and the Internet. Curse!
