While working on a book I hit a few snags as so often happens in this line of work. The snag being two different opinions concerning some areas of my book. One person had issues with a couple of areas while the other person didn't have any issues with it. The latter felt like there needed to be more explaining of who/what/how/why/where than I'd originally written. However, the former felt like everything was fine and the story line flowed nicely without me having to do any extra explaining. This isn't the first time this has happened and it's been rather confusing every time it's happened. I decided to go ahead and add a little 'extra explaining' just not too much to where I had to change paragraphs and whatnot. We'll see how that goes.
What do you do when this happens? Do you listen to one person and not the other? Or ignore both entirely? How about if there's pressure to listen to one critique over another, how do you handle that?
